5 Alkaline Foods for Better Health
The body’s PH is very important in maintaining health. The PH of blood in the body ranges from 7.35-7.45. If the PH level drops below this point, sickness occurs. A highly acidic environment in the body increases the likelihood for illness, including cancer, as well as speeding up the aging process. Unfortunately, due to processed foods and sugars often eaten today, this leads to a highly acidic PH. By eating alkaline foods you will maintain a healthy PH increasing immunity and fighting off illness. An alkaline PH also increases oxygen levels in the body, the most important component in human survival. Below are 5 high alkaline foods.
1 Green Veg
Spinach, broccoli, lettuce and celery are just some green vegetables that are among the highest alkaline foods.
2 Some Fruit
Coconut, grapefruit, bananas, lemons, limes and apples are just some examples of fruits that are very alkaline. However not all fruits are alkaline with cranberries, plums and blueberries being examples of acidic fruits.
3 Protein
Some sources of protein can also be reasonably high alkaline based foods including whey protein, almonds and tofu.
4 Oils
Olive oil, flax seed oil and canola oil all have alkaline based PH’s. Olive oil is extremely alkaline, flax seed moderately and canola oil slightly.
5 Sweeteners
Plant-based sweetener, stevia, is extremely alkaline. Stevia is reported to be 30 times sweeter than sugar, yet almost zero calorie, making it an all-round great sweetener. Maple syrup is moderately alkaline and raw honey just higher than a neutral PH.
