If you want to be the talk of the season, then consider incorporating some of Summer’s best wedding trends. Include one, two, or all of these great trends to ensure that your day is completely unforgettable.
1 VINTAGE
Whether you pick a vintage gown with cute detailing, or decide to make use of an old-fashioned photo booth for your guests, you can’t go wrong with vintage detailing. From depression glass serving plates, to a great historic venue, vintage is all the rage.
2 GO GREEN
Not the color, thing eco-friendly. Use unbleached linens, give plants or seeds as favors, forgo the traditional rice for bubbles, and consider invites and place cards printed on recycled paper. Green is elegant, thoughtful, and will make a lasting impression (Especially if you use plants for your favors! Every time your guests look at their new plant, they’ll think of you. How sweet!).
3 GET CRAFTY
If you’re at all DIY inclined, this wedding season you’ll fit right in. If this is your first attempt, keep your projects simple, if you’re Martha Stewart, go nuts! Think handmade invitations, menus, jewelery, and more. Other areas that are ripe for DIY projects? Your flowers, and even the desserts! Consider homemade cupcake towers, or even brownies in lieu of a groom’s cake.
4 COLOR
Bold is where it’s at this season, so don’t be scared off if you absolutely love yellow, lime green, or aqua, then go for it! Also consider pastels, mixes (think every other dress) like pink and green, and rich dark chocolate (unless it will make you hungry).
5 DRESS UP
I’m not saying you should play dress up, but consider adding unique elements in unexpected areas. Some ideas? Paint the edge of your aisle runner, look for a dress with embellishments, or consider something other than the traditional bouquet (brooches, anyone?).
6 FRESH AIR
For Summer, outdoor weddings are going to be huge. To ensure that you get your first choice of outdoor beauty, be sure to book your park, gazebo, or estate early.
7 UN-VEILED
Shorter veils, birdcage veils (a personal favorite, as I wore one at my wedding), bridal hats, or even skipping the veil altogether will bring more attention to your beautiful face.
8 WARM UP
Instead of going immediately to a sleeveless or spaghetti strap dress, consider cap sleeves, or even a cute lace bolero jacket. You’ll be right on trend. If you’re getting married in a warmer climate, consider a jacket for the reception, especially if it tends to cool off at night.
9 FUNCTIONAL CENTERPIECES
When thinking about your centerpieces, consider having them double as favors for your guests. Individual potted plants, candles, or even framed pictures are nice choices.
10 SPLIT THE AISLE
Buck conventionality and have BOTH the bride and groom walk down separate aisles. Have his mom escort him while your dad walks with you. This unusual trend makes a great memory for both families.
